Show Synopsis

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959 duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'", and "We Go Together", recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.

Character Breakdown

(all roles open!)

Danny Zuko – The handsome, cocky, leader of the Burger Palace Boys. Can also be mean in order to “be cool.”
Sandy Dumbrowski – New in town. Wholesome, pure, kind, clumsy, and innocent girl. Planned on going to Catholic school but changed her mind after going to Rydell High.
Kenickie – The tough and rude second-in-command.
Doody – The youngest member, generally foolish, goofy and gullible.
Sonny – An obnoxious yet tricky member of the Burger Palace Boys.
Roger – A jolly prankster who loves “putting people on,” in love with Jan and sometimes goes by the nickname “Rump”.
Betty Rizzo – Goes by Rizzo. Tough, sarcastic leader of the Pink Ladies. Has a “reputation“ and does not think Sandy is tough enough to be part of the group.
Frenchy – Fun-loving and foolish but very friendly member of the Pink Ladies. Dropped out of high school to attend beauty school. Ditzy, and cares most about her looks.
Marty – “The Beauty,” most attractive member of the Pink Ladies. Likes to act older then she is and likes older men.
Jan – Funny and awkward member of the group. Is loud and pushy with the girls but a sweetheart with the boys.

Other Featured Roles/Ensemble
Teen Angel/Boy Ensemble – Teen heart-throb and idol.
Eugene Florazyk/Boy Ensemble – Silly, gullible nerd.
Patty Simcox/Girl Ensemble – Pretty, perky, peppy cheerleader. Kind of a pain and unpopular with the Pink Ladies since she was voted for student council.
“Cha Cha” (Charlene DiGregorio)/Girl Ensemble – Best dancer at St. Bernadette’s. Wins dance competition with Danny. Pervy and arrogant (must be intermediate to advanced dancer)
Miss Lynch – A loud, no nonsense, serious English teacher.
Vince Fontaine – An egotistical, slimy radio disk jockey trying to relive his teenage years.
