November 1 - 11, 2007

by Joe Masteroff and score by John Kander & Fred Ebb

Cabaret is a musical with a book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and music by John Kander. The 1966 Broadway production became a hit and spawned an acclaimed 1972 film as well as numerous subsequent productions. Cabaret has won Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Musical, Composer and Lyricist, Best Revival (twice) and numerous other awards and tributes. MET is proud to bring back director Phillip Fazio, and Sarah Wolter as Sally Bowles, both Artists-in-Residence at Phoenix Theatre, who received raves for their work last season in MET’s “The Last Five Years”.

Set in 1929-1930 Berlin on the eve of the Nazis' rise to power, it focuses on English cabaret singer Sally Bowles and her relationship with young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. A sub-plot involves the doomed romance between German boarding house owner Fräulein Schneider and one of her tenants, Jewish fruit vendor Herr Schultz. Overseeing the action is the Emcee, who presides as master of ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub and serves as a general commentator. The MAC Farnsworth Studio will be transformed into a real-life Cabaret, in which you will thoroughly enjoy this intriguing story and the wonderful music.

Cabaret is not intended for children. Adult situations and topics.
